Riddick Returns!

Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena is the sequel to Escape From Butcher Bay, which was a first-person action game originally released on the Xbox. The game balanced action between shooting, stealth, and exploration to perfection. The breathtakingly detailed visuals married with an in depth and involving storyline made for a great game. Since Dark Athena is set to improve upon Butcher Bay and introduce new campaigns, the game is garnering a lot of hype ahead of its April release.

The game is set to have Butcher Bay built into it, with various improvements and upgrades integrated into the game. Dark Athena is an additional mission, which picks up where the original left off and involves Riddick attempting his escape from the titular ship. With only a makeshift weapon in the form of the captain's hairpin, Riddick must use stealth and intelligence in order to escape.

One interesting development comes in the form of each firearm being ID tagged, meaning only each specific owner can use firearms tagged to them. This makes for inventive gameplay in which Riddick must manipulate enemies by force or trickery, for example dragging dead bodies along in order to use them to fireout out a window,

Dark Athena introduces a number of new perks and functions to the gameplay, ranging from simultaneous use of cover and firepower, a number of contextual weapons to use, and the ability to control various mechs. These improve upon the already impressive quota of quirks held in the original.

For fans of the first game this title is a must. Reintroducing the game into next gen means those fans that enjoyed the original have a chance to get ahold of it again, since the Xbox 360 is not backwards compatible, the original was in danger of being lost to the gaming world. So shave your head and strap on those goggles, Riddick is back!
